Not only did I read through this story, it was a journey of feelings as the pages were turned. This was an old fashioned story about the truth of story and of heart. Well done!!

I loved how you brought Zoe to life in here. Such hardships to overcome in those days. Zoe was an amazing woman to tackle and overcome it all.

Colleen has captured the essence of living in the wilderness with all its hardships during the 20’s.

Captivating read of one small, brave woman, minister/doctor, who cared for all within a vast territory under cruel conditions, A story of determination, courage and compassion. Bravo Colleen!

The Wild West from a female perspective!

Rated 4.0 out of 5

This is a fascinating look at the hardships and solitude faced by the first settlers of the Wild West. Zoe, a new doctor and minister, pushes back on the implied fragility of females, while battling harsh winters, and floods. Enduring both triumph and heartbreak she manages to carve out a full and meaningful life despite the odds.

Based in truth and reality, this is a refreshingly unromantic view of how hard it was to survive as a homesteader in the 1930’s. I was quickly invested in Zoe’s journey and found myself admiring her strength, compassion and resilience throughout the novel.

This is both an informative and enjoyable read.

Imagine Being an Immigrant

No wonder they call Canada’s early settlers “the greatest generation.” My Mom was born on the prairies in 1920 and this story brought home to me the overwhelming struggles her immigrant family endured. Dr Cavendish was one spunky lady, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading

about her adventures. To think she was a real person makes this tale all the more interesting.

I am in awe of Dr Zoe!

I really enjoyed this novel about an extraordinary woman who challenged norms and overcame countless obstacles.

Dr Zoe Cavendish defies expectations as she fearlessly tackles her role as a medical missionary in Alberta’s northern frontier in the late 1920s. Battling against skepticism and the harsh elements of nature, Dr Zoe’s determination is boundless as she navigates the untamed wilderness on horseback to tend to her patients. Snowstorms and floods are no match for this resilient doctor who is guided by her unwavering faith.

Inspired by real events, this beautiful story will transport you to the rugged landscape of the northern frontier as Dr Zoe changes lives and brings communities together. But amidst the chaos of her demands, will there be room in her heart for love? You’ll have to read it to find out!
